Hi! My Name is Trish Doolan...

…and in the midst of the unforeseeable events of 2020 I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. What I didn’t know then was that I had a genetic predisposition, known as the BRCA Gene.

This lack of awareness about the BRCA gene resulted in eight surgeries for me so far. I underwent an aggressive chemotherapy treatment that caused an awakening like no other in my life, and it motivated me to take action to help others. I realized that a simple genetic test could have changed the course of my life, and that is why I am on a mission to help save other women, and men too, from experiencing my preventable cancer journey.

With your help, we can change lives together by passing a bill in congress that allows everyone women, age 21 and older, to get a free BRCA genetic screening so that they never have to go through this preventable

journey.

WHAT IS BRCA?

BR=Breast

CA=Cancer

BRCA1 and BRCA2 are two genes that are important to fighting cancer and are tumor suppressor genes. When they work normally, these genes help keep breast, ovarian, and other types of cells from growing and dividing too rapidly or in an uncontrolled way.

Sometimes a change or mutation occurs in the BRCA genes that prevent them from working normally. This raises a person’s risk for breast, ovarian and other cancers.

Until we have a standard protocol for screening all women we will never know how many folks of ALL genders are actually carrying the BRCA 1 and 2 gene. It's all guesswork at this point.
